An underground, polished chamber music act.
V Coloris is a colorful, lively and international wind quintet whose main connections are to Denmark and Romania. The name refers to the five musicians’ passion for colors, both visually and musically (V, roman for five, refers to quintet; coloris is Latin and means “mix of colors”). V Coloris like to immerse themselves in less known works and let them be part of their repertoire to contrast the more standard and well-known pieces that they also play. Apart from playing together the five musicians are engaged in various distinguished symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles and/or study with highly acknowledged teachers in, among other places, Paris and Bucharest. In 2019 V Coloris were awarded the 3rd prize in the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition as well as the 2nd prize in the Bucharest International Music Competition. Later this year V Coloris will be recording a piece written for them by the American composer Tom Brennan. A collaboration with the Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen including a series of concerts presenting some of his pieces for wind quintet is yet another highlight for 2020.
V Coloris performs vibrant classical and contemporary chamber music as a dedicated wind quintet.
V Coloris operates as an international ensemble with primary connections to Denmark and Romania.
