Afro Venezuelan rhythms meet electronica, Venezonix is the passion project of Andres Ponce (aka Agpa). Ponce has lived for more than 20 years in Florida, after immigrating from Venezuela at 19 years old. He is a Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated producer, engineer and musician and co-founder of the band Elastic Bond. Venezonix started from a personal journey exploring ways to mix Afro Venezuelan folkloric rhythms with electronic music production elements such as synthesizers and beat programming. Venezonix’s debut EP La Que Es, included two collaborations with the internationally acclaimed group Betsayda Machado y Parranda El Clavo. Released in 2021, via Nacional Records, La Que Es received favorable reviews from international music and cultural outlets such as NPR Alt Latino, Gladys Palmera, PAM (Pan African Music), and KEXP. More recently Venezonix collaborated with Mexican artist Pahua on the hypnotizing track Serpiente de Oro. Another recently released EP followed, titled La Trenza, featuring collaborations with tradition-steeped musicians from Venezuela and the diaspora, such as singers Carlos Talez and Maisha. Venezonix's latest album Jaspe was released in November 2025, featuring collaborations from Chulius (Los Amigos Invisibles), Pahua, and MPeach, amongst others. The record got outstanding reviews by NPR Alt Latino, Tigre Sounds, and Remezcla. In their live show Venezonix delivers a powerful mix of live electronica and Afro-Venezuelan percussion.
