WURKT was a SF Bay Area -born nu-metal band formed in 1999. Original Deftones manager Dave Park secured their initial demo deal, which subsequently caught the attention of renowned producer Josh Abraham (known for his work with Staind, Korn, and Limp Bizkit).The Band's History Originally formed in San Francisco , the four-piece band relocated to the Sacramento in the late 90s. The lineup consisted of:Josh Robinson (Vocals/Songwriting)Toby Seeger (Guitar)Guy Gates (Bass/Backing Vocals)Geoff Eckert (Drums)Dave Park & Josh Abraham's RolesDave Park: As the original manager for the Deftones, Park played an integral early role in WURKT's career. He helped the band land a Roadrunner Records demo deal, facilitating the recording of early tracks with Joe Johnston (CAKE, Will Haven) at Pus Cavern North.Josh Abraham: After hearing the band's initial demos, Abraham brought them into the studio (NRG Studios/Pulse Studio Hollywood) to produce their 11-track album, titled "Better in Two Weeks" under Warner Bros./143 Records. Due to the Label 143 dissolving in 2001 & label politics just after recording, Wurkt was struggling to regain the rights to their record, the band independently released the "WURKT EP, ONE" in early 2002. Although the album remains largely unreleased, the band developed a cult following. Wurkt gained the rights of “Better In Two Weeks” and self released getting it on California radio stations and in other states with no label representation which is unheard of!
