Balance within contrasts defines the artistic universe of Mara Menace. Her sound is shaped by the tension between control and surrender, the physical and the subconscious. Guided by psychoacoustic intuition, she works with low-end that anchors, highs that cut, and breathing mids that move between body and mind. Founder of Sweetspot and former curator of New Faces at Tresor, she has consistently created spaces for emerging voices. After relocating to Berlin to focus fully on production, she developed a distinct sonic identity rooted in a simple idea: true harmony is born through contrast. Her work is also marked by a commitment to exploring the unknown, cultivating a deep sense of psychoacoustic interplay, and embracing the unexpected. Her Less-Face/Distorted-Face aesthetic reflects this, intentionally distorting the gaze to resist the commodification and sexualisation of female artists. By dissolving the primary visual cue, attention shifts towards what truly defines her: a sound identity shaped through experimentation rather than imitation.
