Inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, Yusuf / Cat Stevens is the recipient of an Ivor Novello Award and a two-time recipient of the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award. Throughout a six-plus decade career, in which he has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, his music has been centred upon the search for spiritual enlightenment and a quest for peace. Yusuf is known for the soft intimate sound of his seminal albums ‘Tea For The Tillerman’ and ‘Teaser and the Firecat’ and such iconic songs as ‘Father And Son’, ‘Wild World’, ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’ and ‘Peace Train’. His prolific songwriting has led to many celebrated covers by a wide range of artists including Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Elliott Smith, Elton John, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Cliff and Santana. Throughout his exceptional career, Yusuf / Cat Stevens has worked directly in the fields of humanitarian aid and education. He continues to raise funds and support the victims of natural and man-made disasters through his own global Peace Train initiative, with its mission to “feed the hungry and spread peace”.
