An underground free jazz artist.
Born in the Galil region, Northern Israel, Ziv Taubenfeld started playing the clarinet as part of his primary school orchestra. Following the attraction to low sounds, the bass clarinet was added as a second instrument that soon became Taubenfeld's main focus. Taubenfeld's main musical vehicle for a few years was Bones. The trio has released 3 albums (Leo Records, No Business Records) and performed at venues and festivals such as the Bimhuis and North Sea Jazz Festival. Taubenfeld's most recent project - FULL SUN - floats somewhere on the infinite jazz continuum, searching for the "perfect duality", the moment where tradition and experimentation coexist. Full Sun is a flexible unit that performs in various sizes and instrumentations. Their second album - Out of The Beast Came Honey - will be released with the Portuguese, Clean Feed Records, later in 2022. Full Sun pool of musicians: Michael Moore, Joost Buis, Luis Vicente, Nico Chientaroli, Onno Govaert, Shay Hazan, Rozemarie Heggen, Omer Govreen, Olie Brice and Yung-Tuan Ku. Other bands and recent collaborations include Kuhn Fu, Owlman, CosJazzul, Han Bennink, Ab Baars, Guus Janssen, Olie Brice and Carlos "Zingaro" among others.
Ziv Taubenfeld plays experimental and free jazz, primarily on the bass clarinet, often blending traditional jazz elements with avant-garde improvisation, as heard in his project FULL SUN.
Ziv Taubenfeld was born in the Galil region of Northern Israel and is currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
