The Mingus Big Band performs exclusively the music of the celebrated American composer, bassist, and activist Charles Mingus. Created by Sue Mingus, this 14-piece ensemble features arrangements of Mingus compositions in a larger band format, encouraging deep exploration and ever-evolving interpretations of his work. Drawing from a rotating pool of New York City's finest musicians, the band continues the legendary Mingus Mondays residency at The Pocket. The ensemble has received seven Grammy nominations, including a win for Live at Jazz Standard.
