The Mingus Big Band exclusively performs the music of the renowned American composer and bassist Charles Mingus. Established by Sue Mingus, this 14-piece ensemble showcases large-band arrangements of Mingus's work, a format he envisioned but wasn't always able to maintain during his life. Featuring a rotating cast of New York City's top established and emerging musicians, the band is celebrated for its spontaneous and creative energy. Their legacy includes seven GRAMMY nominations and a win in 2011, continuing through their Mingus Mondays residency at The Pocket.
