BIFFF 2026 Golden Raven winnerA traveling psychic sees dead people, including her older sister, who looks younger now. She is hired to cleanse a haunted hotel, not unlike the Overlook, but without the annoying Jack Nicolson or that little bugger with squeaky tricycle. Turns out the hotel is haunted by the Tooth Fairy. Our lovely medium needs to catch him without the help Hannibal Lecter. Her dead sister ain't a big help either. What can you expect from a dead sister? This story needs a twist. It is there. I don't buy it.

Score : 8.7/10 ✅Seen at Fantasia International Film Festival 2026Huge surprise to me.Look, I’m not here to praise it or anything (but watch me try), but it’s a masterful example of how you can gradually reinvent the wheel of the haunted house sub-genre while keeping its central motif of connectivity grounded. But what I love the most is the laid-back yet spooky hang-out vibe — between recognizable and surreal. In some way, it necessitates a complete form of control between a one-location setting and how establising the two ‘dimensions’. And to be extremely fair, I’d say first-time writer/director Dave Boyle did a fantastic job with its smooth transitions whenever our main characters leave her body to the other realm or when she’s wandering the place for clues. The real standout, though, is the score. It’s extremely effective and fits perfectly. I absolutely loved it.The only thing keeping our main character from being sucked out into the other realms is respecting a set of rules she created, like not working at night and staying alert for the signs. There might be a couple of small mistakes with these rules, but it’s never because she’s careless. The summoning and self-hypnosis tools used in the film are also really interesting. They add both charm and a unique visual style when facing the dark silhouette.As for the ending, within the context of our main character’s journey, that ending scene came across very beautifully. Loved it.
