Bro was collecting teeth like the tooth fairy
Jack Torrance would’ve been proud.A brilliant slow-burn horror that takes a fairly simple premise and gradually builds something genuinely terrifying.Loved the atmosphere, which reminded me a lot of The Shining, but what really impressed me was how creatively the film takes off in its third act.A breath of fresh air for horror.Sitges Film Fest 2026
This film presented the afterlife’s timeline in a way I have never seen before. It was really compelling, & kind of terrifying. Also in general the story was so much darker than expected (yay! (not sarcasm)).Loved the protagonist Airi! She was fearless & had a unique haircut (that became part of the plot - a smart detail). Loved the villain too, he was evil & soulless (another fun plot element which was slowly revealed). The woodsy Japanese hotel setting was spectacular. And the blood effects, they were completely satisfying.take away:Hotels closed for off-season have endless beverage & snackertunities! (of which Airi fully enjoyed 🫶)Also the living are scarier than the dead - they just are!*****Spoilers*****favorite scene: the long leading shot when Airi was dancing through the hallways & the hotel!fave relationship: Ari & her dead sisterbest prop: the zoetrope tele-porter to the afterlife
