David August presents new compositions from his artist residency at Monopol Lab in an immersive listening session. Tickets on Mood.
Nômade Temple Madrid, the hotel at Gran Vía 11, welcomes David August as artist in residence. Its residency program invites artists to live and work at the hotel and to create unique pieces during their stay. August will work in MONOPOL, the hotel's cultural laboratory, on the development of new compositions. MONOPOL is a space dedicated to culture, where music, film, visual arts, gastronomy and thought share a room equipped with an LED screen and L-Acoustics L-ISA immersive sound, unique in the city. Next Wednesday, October 7, he will share the results of his work at MONOPOL in a listening session dedicated to the pieces created during the residency. Trained as a classical pianist, August has expanded his language from his early club work toward experimental composition. In the project VĪS (2023), he brought together music, choreography and set design; with WORKOUTS (2024), he explored dubstep, breakbeat and other club rhythms. In HYMNS (2026), his most recent work, he returns to the piano through improvisation. He is also the founder of 99CHANTS, a label he launched in 2018.
