Sleep is among the most well known stoner metal bands that came out of California in the early 90’s. Their album Holy Mountain was released in 1992 and is held in high regard as an important influencer of stoner and doom metal. After a hiatus following the recording of Dopesmoker, the band reunited in 2009 and continues to perform their heavy, atmospheric sound.
