The German cellist Friedemann ‘Fried’ Dähn is a prominent figure in the old-school avant-garde scene. A true pioneer, he was among the first to integrate live electronics and loop stations with the cello. His trio performs original compositions that bridge the gap between contemporary jazz, free improvisation, and post-serial music. Their performances are characterized by unexpected grooves and a distinct sense of swing, exploring instrumental boundaries with Carsten Netz on saxophone and Bernd Settemeyer on drums.
