A nostalgic, uplifting classical night.
The second evening featuring the trio of Lang Lang, Andris Nelsons, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. The programme balances Beethoven's "Emperor" Piano Concerto with his "Pastoral" Symphony. Following a successful collaboration in 2024, the Chinese pianist, Latvian conductor, and German orchestra return to explore Beethoven's legacy. Lang Lang takes on the virtuoso challenges of Piano Concerto No. 5, a work that redefined the genre. This is paired with the Sixth Symphony, a work of lyrical grandeur that reflects the composer's connection to nature. The Gewandhaus Orchestra holds a historical link to the concerto, having premiered the work in 1811.
