An open-air, high-energy electrocumbia night.
Two California Plaza, 350 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90071
Grand Performances celebrates the grand finale of its 40th summer season with an energetic night of music and dance. The evening features Mexico City's Son Rompe Pera, a band leading the resurrection of the marimba by blending folkloric traditions with a punk/garage aesthetic to create their unique 'Cumbia Punk' sound. Joining them is Bloco Obini, an all-femme Afro-Brazilian drum and dance ensemble that centers the heritage and strength of women within the African diaspora. The night also includes a guest appearance by the dynamic multi-instrumentalist QVLN and a vinyl set from DJ Dave Salvaje, who specializes in rare Latin rhythms. Dancing shoes are highly recommended for this outdoor season closer.
