Gala Régine Crespin - Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Paris

Gala Régine Crespin

A nostalgic, slow-burn opera night.

7:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Palais Garnier

Pl. de l'Opéra, 75009 Paris, France

To mark the centenary of the birth of Régine Crespin, the Opéra national de Paris pays tribute to her with a gala event to benefit the institution's activities. Born in Marseille in 1927, the singer joined the Opéra de Paris troupe where she made her debut as Elsa in Lohengrin in 1951. Her notable roles at the Palais Garnier included the First Prioress, created for her by Francis Poulenc in Dialogues des Carmélites, Kundry in Wagner's Parsifal, and Giulietta in Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann. Exceptional in both French and Wagnerian repertoires, she remains a reference for her diction, purity of line, and musicality. Directed by Yves Lenoir and conducted by Nathalie Stutzmann, singers Lea Desandre, Ekaterina Gubanova, Sondra Radvanovsky, Marina Rebeka, Stanislas de Barbeyrac, and Ludovic Tézier perform iconic works from her repertoire, including Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été.
