Beirut is the longtime project of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zach Condon, known for weaving together indie-folk, orchestral pop, and global influences into a sound both timeless and intimate. Following the atmospheric Hadsel (2023), recorded on a remote Norwegian island, Beirut returns with A Study of Losses (2025), an 18-track album commissioned by the Swedish troupe Kompani Giraff and inspired by Judith Schalansky’s An Inventory of Losses. Exploring themes of disappearance, preservation, and the fragile beauty of memory, the record expands Beirut’s palette with choral, ambient, and early-music tones while staying rooted in Condon’s melodic warmth.
