Born in California and now based in Brooklyn, Simon Hanes is a composer, performer, and arranger recognized for his work in the New York Downtown music scene. Known as the mastermind of the large pop ensemble Tredici Bacci and a collaborator with J.G. Thirlwell, Hanes brings high energy to his live performances. At this event, he leads a quintet of young musicians performing a program of surf-based original compositions. The music draws on his California roots and a passion for exotica and film scores, creating a soundtrack for modern musical explorers.
