Devon Gates is a Brooklyn-based bassist, vocalist, and composer originally from Atlanta, Georgia. An alumna of Harvard University, Berklee College of Music, and the Royal Academy of Music, she merges jazz, chamber music, and soul. Gates has worked alongside artists such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Vijay Iyer, and Nicole Mitchell, performing internationally and earning accolades including the 2024 Composers Now First Commission Award and the Marion Brown Prize.
