Based in Portland, Oregon, Marisa Anderson is a composer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist who performs both as a soloist and in collaborative settings. Her work draws inspiration from a diverse range of styles including Delta blues, West African guitar traditions, 1960s and 70s country and western radio, gospel, and experimental noise. Her music explores themes of mortality, rhythms, and praise. She has released multiple albums featuring guitar and lap steel improvisations. Her distinctive sound has led to performances alongside notable acts such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Devil Makes 3, and Sharon Van Etten.
