Amsterdam-born pianist, keyboardist, and composer David van der Grinten has been building a diverse career as a performer, composer, and collaborator. As a former member of the jazz-rock band SMANDEM., he has appeared on stages such as the North Sea Jazz Festival and Het Concertgebouw. After pursuing a master's degree in New York City where he studied with jazz greats like Fred Hersch and Jason Moran, David's compositions reflect a mix of curiosity and mystery. For this special performance at Contra Amsterdam, David joins forces with a band of highly sought-after musicians from the Dutch scene. Together with guitarist Max Boyer, bassist Glenn Gaddum Jr., and drummer Yoràn Vroom, they will perform a vibrant set featuring both original electric music and modern jazz covers.
