Personal growth can be a complex process, but it is also an essential, life-affirming journey. 'Box for Buddy, Box for Star', the latest album from This Is Lorelei, explores this conundrum, functioning as both an earnest transformative exercise and a lighthearted critique of the illusion of change. Since 2012, New York City singer-songwriter Nate Amos (known for Water From Your Eyes and My Idea) has self-released hundreds of songs under this moniker. This new record marks his first attempt at a traditional, intentionally written full-length album. Created during a period of intense personal reflection and a challenge to write without the influence of substances, the album embraces traditional pop songcraft and confessional lyricism, while maintaining a sense of irony and artistic curveballs ranging from country gestures to electronic pop.
