Sound Base Berlin: Dounime & Duos Duet at House of World Cultures
A queer, underground organic house night.
Sound Base Berlin celebrates the diversity of the Berlin music landscape through queer, migrant, and diasporic perspectives. This second edition brings together two Berlin-based duos exploring Iranian musical heritage. Dounime, meaning 'two halves forming a whole,' features percussionist Roshanak Rafani and oud player Fatemeh Dehghani. Their performance navigates the rhythmic and harmonic cycles of traditional Persian music, moving through the modes of Dastgāh-e Navā and Āwāz-e Eṣfahān. Duos Duet, formed by Golsana Shenasaei and Niki Yaghmaee, blends cello, violin, and viola with electronics and loops. Their work spans composition and improvisation, translating experiences of identity and migration into sound. The evening also includes a discussion moderated by Aida Baghernejad and a DJ set by Siaah.
