Bobo & Behaja is a French-Malagasy quintet exploring the fresh sounds and hectic rhythms of tsapiky. This musical style emerged in Madagascar in the late 1970s from the fusion of village traditions and modern African music, featuring the electric guitar as its centerpiece. The band formed through a collaboration between the French quartet Electric Vocuhila and the musicians of Behaja. Together they create an unprecedented combination where tsapiky, free jazz, and rock converge. The group's performance reinterprets the long-duration trance and rhythmic intensity of tsapiky with a contemporary approach, linking its hypnotic power to the sound textures and improvisation of jazz and rock music.
