Born William Omar Landron Rivera, he was musically inclined from childhood and left a potential career in the church to pursue music. After starting as a backup singer for Hector and Tito, his debut album "The Last Don" in 2003 became a massive hit, selling over four million copies globally. His follow-up album, "King of Kings," reached number seven on the Billboard 200, setting a record for the highest-charting reggaeton album at the time. Known as "El Rey," Don Omar is a prolific live performer, often accompanied by a large group of dancers and a backing band with diverse instrumentation.
