A nostalgic, mainstream classical night.
The Boston Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Andris Nelsons, performs at the Philharmonie de Paris. The program opens with Stravinsky's Petrushka and continues with Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring renowned pianist Lang Lang. This early Beethoven work, often noted for its Mozartian spirit and fresh inspiration, is contrasted with Stravinsky's revolutionary and rhythmic masterpiece, The Rite of Spring, which remains as powerful and subversive today as it was at its 1913 premiere.
