Solex & Jean D.L.
A nostalgic, underground plunderphonics night.
Elisabeth Esselink, better known as Solex, returns to the stage following a long hiatus for a special 25th-anniversary tour of her acclaimed album 'Low Kick and Hard Bop'. Originally a record store owner in Amsterdam, Esselink's music is a distinctive blend of low-tech electronics, experimental lo-fi pop, and sonic collages created from found sounds and obscure fragments. For this tour, she performs as part of a trio, reimagining her intricate universe through a mix of guitar, drums, synthesizers, and vocals. Opening the night is Jean D.L., an artist whose work sits at the intersection of sound and image. Utilizing guitars and field recordings, he constructs organic, atmospheric soundscapes that evoke visual memories and sensations. His practice is deeply rooted in improvisation and the acoustic properties of the performance space.
