The Ex & Brass Unbound
An underground, raw free jazz night.
The Ex exists since 1979 and has always experimented with styles and musical forms, preferring improvisation over predictability. For decades they have collaborated with improvisers worldwide, including the legendary Ex festivals and collaborations with artists like Tom Cora. A special chapter is their project with Brass Unbound, which evolved from work with Ethiopian legend Getatchew Mekuria. Ten years later, The Ex resumes this collaboration. Longtime companions Ken Vandermark, Mats Gustafsson, and Roy Paci are joined by younger musicians Hanne De Backer, Signe Emmeluth, and Guro Kvale, forming a vibrant ten-piece collective.
