A nostalgic classical night.
Javier Perianes performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, followed by a performance of Schubert's Fifth Symphony by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris. The programme, which opens with the overture to Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, explores the musical connections between these three composers. Written at the dawn of the 19th century, Beethoven's concerto blends early Romantic expression with classical structure, while Schubert's symphony, composed just months after he praised Mozart in his journal, reflects a vibrant and sunny Mozartean influence.
