After spearheading the alt-country movement with Uncle Tupelo, Jay Farrar pursued his vision with Son Volt, recording three landmark albums in the ’90s. Following a period of solo work, Farrar reconvened a new lineup of the band in 2004 and has since released nine more albums. Their recent project, Sound Signal Serenades, highlights Farrar’s signature style of blending America's forgotten history with a perspective geared toward the future.
