Join us at Bar Laika on Wednesday, October 21 for the fortieth edition of Playback with Solpara. Solpara is a Lebanese-American musician whose work bridges experimental music, club culture, and interdisciplinary performance. Active since his teenage years in early-2000s New York, he later co-founded the Booma Collective in Montreal before returning to New York in 2015. His output includes releases on Nicolas Jaar's Other People imprint, Quiet Time, and Brutaz, culminating in his 2024 debut solo album, Melancholy Sabotage. Most recently, his focus has expanded toward film soundtracks, collaborative performances with dancer and animator Cirrus Marlo Sauma, and the Nour Noir Bayt event series celebrating SWANA artists. Playback is a recurring series of informal listening events curated by Kamran Sadeghi, providing a platform for artists, labels, and producers to share archival recordings, pre-releases, and catalogue rarities.
