Murubutu, the stage name of Alessio Mariani, began his hip hop journey in the early 90s. A philosophy and history teacher in Reggio Emilia, he has focused since 2000 on the interaction between educational content and rap music. This resulted in a unique subgenre known as didactic rap, where classical hip hop sounds provide the backdrop for storytelling with a poetic, singer-songwriter edge. In 2024, Murubutu decided to revisit his repertoire through a jazz lens, performing for the first time with the Moon Jazz Band. This project blends the revolutionary origins of jazz with hip hop, offering innovative arrangements that create entirely new atmospheres compared to his original recordings. The performance represents a unique intersection of parallel musical worlds and styles.
