Sonic Memories: Darone Sassounian
La MCA d'Alfortville welcomes Darone Sassounian for a listening session and discussion exploring the music of the Armenian diaspora, focusing on disco, funk, and soul. Darone will present various tracks, share their histories, and engage with the audience. Sonic Memories extends the exploration initiated by his compilation Silk Road: Journey of the Armenian Diaspora (1971–1982), reaching beyond the works featured on the release. Darone Sassounian is a DJ and producer navigating house, disco, jazz, and rare selections, with a special focus on Armenian and Middle Eastern sounds. His productions have been released on Habibi Funk, Terrestrial Funk, and his own label, Rocky Hill.
