MAYA ONGAKU
Maya Ongaku is a collective of local musicians from the coastal communities around Enoshima, Japan. Their sound is defined by earthy psychedelia that originates from what the band describes as "shizen hassei"—spontaneous generation or the creation of living organisms from non-living matter. Currently a trio consisting of Tsutomu Sonoda, Ryota Takano, and Shoei Ikeda, the group formed at the Ace General Store, a vintage shop where they spend their time curating vinyl and jamming in a hidden back-room studio. Their name represents a neologism for an imaginary sight outside one's field of vision.
