A nostalgic, raw concerto night.
As part of the "Vox organi Cathedralis" organ music festival celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Vilnius Cathedral organ will feature European cathedral organ voices, including a recital by Matthias Maierhofer, principal organist of the Freiburg Cathedral, performing works by Buxtehude, Bach, Mozart, Franck, Bovet, and Escaich. Matthias Maierhofer studied organ, early music, and church music in Graz, Freiburg, Leipzig, and Basel. He has won prizes at international competitions including M.K. Čiurlionis in Vilnius, Nijmegen, Bach competition in Arnstadt, and Franz Schmidt in Kitzbühel, taking first prize at the Nuremberg organ competition. He actively tours globally, collaborating with major European choirs and state orchestras, and serves as professor of organ at the Freiburg University of Music.
