Poison Ruin, formed in Philadelphia in 2020, blends classic anarcho and crust punk with influences from oi!, American post-punk, NWOBHM, and dungeon synth. The project, which began as a solo effort, quickly evolved into a full band known for dark medieval imagery and lyrical themes paired with anarcho iconography. Their sound is propulsive and atmospheric, creating a gritty yet melodic environment reminiscent of bands like The Wipers and Modern Warfare. The music is designed for high energy, balancing catchy elements with a layer of gloomy isolation, often incorporating electronic and synth textures to enrich their dark sonic landscape.
