Crippling Alcoholism

Crippling Alcoholism is a Boston-based project working at the intersection of pop immediacy and abrasive noise rock. Their breakthrough album, Camgirl, frames earworm hooks against themes of obsession, endurance, and collapse, allowing pleasure and revulsion to coexist without easy resolution. Released in late 2025, the album follows a loose narrative centered on a sex worker navigating cycles of exploitation and survival, where intimacy becomes spectacle and visibility carries risk. Grotesque and confrontational subject matter sits inside deliberately melodic structures, with choruses that linger even as the lyrics resist comfort. Songs move between confession and performance, desire and despair, illuminated by artificial light.
