Ilya Gringolts, Lawrence Power, and Nicolas Altstaedt embark on an expedition through the string trio repertoire. The centrepiece of their programme is Wolfgang Rihm’s monumental Musik für 3 Streicher, a work composed in his mid-20s that aims to capture the full breadth of human emotion and experience. The trio also performs the remarkable Ricercari by Roman Haubenstock-Ramati, alongside selections by Byrd, Kurtág, Alwyn, Purcell, Boccherini, Webern, Veress, Sibelius, Bach, and Kodály. This wide-ranging programme bridges the gap between early music and contemporary masterpieces.
