AHMAD SHAMMA & AL MULTAQA ENSEMBLE
A nostalgic, underground world night.
As part of the Arabic Music Days at Pierre Boulez Saal, the festival explores African cultures in their Arabic dimension this season. Curator Naseer Shamma has invited five ensembles with musicians from various African countries whose musical identity is shaped by centuries-old traditions. The opening evening features the Al Multaqa Ensemble, led by Ahmad Shamma, with members hailing from Iraq, Mali, Nigeria, and South Sudan.
