Things I would do differently. 1. Remove the food from the freezer where they put the bodies. 2. Build the wall out of something stronger than cardboard. 3. Close and seriously board up the doors behind the built wall. 4. Seduce Francine away from Flyboy. 5. Take all the guns out of the gun store. 6. Never take off the fur coat. 7. Eat a whole ton of cheese.

I always hate it when Roger gets bit after leaving his bag in one of the the trucks they're moving, because up until then it seems like they were doing great and having about as much fun as one can during the apocalypse, just running around with your friends playing with guns, looting shit, driving a Volkswagen hatchback around inside a mall with no *real* danger. Basically the funnest shit you could do with your friends with zero consequences. However, on this rewatch it struck me that Roger has to die because he was having TOO MUCH fun. As he starts to lose it, he gets more gleeful around the zombies, starts shooting them with no real reason and eventually starts muttering "bastards, you dumb bastards" exactly like the deranged SWAT guy who just wants to murder black people from the ghetto holocaust scene in the beginning. Romero is warning us about the essential dehumanization that comes from robotically shooting people or former-people with total abandon. The less we see the zombies as us, the less human we become.Chills/Thrills: a disturbing but often goofy look at societal collapse.Gore/Ownage: S-Tier. This movie probably has more proper "in through the forehead, brains blown out the back" headshots than any other film ever made. Heads explode, limbs are torn off, greedy hands reach into intestines, trucks hit bodies, and many zombie children are blown away. Untouchable work by Tom Savini here.Horniness: Almost none.Best of all is GOD Ken Foree, who is easily the coolest horror movie protagonist of all time in this one. Also, special shout out to my favorite character in this film, the eye patch wearing TV scientist played by Richard France, who also played the scientist in Romero's 'The Crazies', who keeps shouting "DUMMIES, DUMMIES, DUMMIES!" at his in studio audience.
