Nina Hoss' endless fight against her typecasting as the enigmatic German Fräuleinwunder. my hope for a bolder epidemic horror was shattered, this is a survival tragedy of loneliness shifting more & more into a migration drama, making sure that you'll GET IT by the end. has the typical 'teutonic diseases', good acting (Hoss, obviously, Barbara Petrisch in the second best scene of the film*) standing next to clunky one (everyone else). I get the intrigue of the concept, but it's just so blatantly in your face, just what we're used to, and so tired of in our national cinema. *that 'dog in her arms' sequence will get everyone brutally destroyed, that's a one in a million moment. kinda telling that it is the only moment no human needed to act here, Hoss just showing off the 'caring mom' side of her naturally.~ Hamburg 34 ~
