A moving, dark drama.
The deeply emotional and inspirational true story of Ian Charleson, a gifted actor whose greatest challenge becomes his greatest triumph. Facing his own mortality with unflinching honesty, wit, and grace, Charleson delivers a courageous performance that becomes a source of healing and inspiration for those around him.

andrew scott could make history as the first gay man to win the academy award for best actor!! 🏳️🌈
liked the ideas it plays with in terms of the pursuit of an artistic high, even during the darkest days. Equipped with a couple life-affirming showreels thrown in. Andrew Scott is excellent (of course), but the direction is so cold and still: rarely allows for any reflection and is formally a little dull. Probably the most by the book, against-the-odds story that your grandma will probably love. Hits you over the head with everything it wants to tell you. the Hamnet for me of this year, waiting for that emotional explosion but it never arrived.
It follows the true story of actor Ian Charleson as he delivers a renowned stage performance of Hamlet while privately facing a terminal AIDS diagnosis.
Simon Stone directed the 2026 biographical drama film.
The film generated major festival acclaim and international award season buzz following its premiere.
