KAIJULY: MONKEE KONGHmmm… it’s aight I guess.Last time we were in the Kong universe, we met his boring son, and now he has to face his biggest enemy yet. That is… MechaKong! The main story and how it comes to be were okay. There’s a lot of callback to the original, with Kong once again getting to the top of a tall building with the blonde wrapped in her big arms. That whole sequence had a good dose of suspense, especially as stuff starts to fall off and threaten to smash our protagonists and that slip and hanging on the edge. Really good stuff. Obviously they went in a different direction and both Kong’s movements feel smoother. I found the stop motion very charming, but this new shift was good too. There is some neat cinematography and the score keeps being consistently good. All in all, by no means a great sequel to the original, but an improvement over the actual follow-up. There are a few good moments, but nothing memorable and I don’t want to go and compare the two, but Goji did this way better. All like 7xs they did the whole mecha stuff.KAIJULY: MONKEE KONGTODAY SCHEDULEGamera Vs VirasKing Kong vs GodzillaKing Kong EscapesThe Magic Serpent
