Brian Cohen is an average young Jewish man, but through a series of ridiculous events, he gains a reputation as the Messiah. When he's not dodging his followers or being scolded by his shrill mother, the hapless Brian has to contend with the pompous Pontius Pilate and acronym-obsessed members of a separatist movement. Rife with Monty Python's signature absurdity, the tale finds Brian's life paralleling Biblical lore, albeit with many more laughs.

Watched this one for a friend’s podcast. Even with a lot of stuff that doesn’t hold up to time (transphobic satire, rape gags, unnecessary blackface) this movie is still phenomenal. The entire second half of this movie is unimpeachable.
The film follows an ordinary man named Brian Cohen who is accidentally mistaken for the Messiah in ancient Judea, leading to a series of absurdist misunderstandings involving his followers and the Roman authorities.
Terry Jones directed the 1979 film, which is widely recognized as a pinnacle of British comedy.
