fuuuuuuck yessssss dude oh my god. yessss. love love love. so much magic here. so patient and airy yet brimming with charm and cleverness. quaint but ambitious. so many hilarious little gags. the fuzzy bleary digital video live action segments are some of the most inspired shit I’ve seen at the fest so far. aspect ratio change had me punching the air. that score is fucking magical. more people need to tap in. animated films at tiff please stop fading to black constantly this is the second time its happened. if you found this boring i hate you
I really liked that “reality” was animated, and virtual reality was live action 😽
Set in a future winter where space travel is common, a lonely janitor caring for a dilapidated film studio finds unexpected connection inside a virtual world.
Light Pillar was directed by filmmaker Zao Xu, premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2026.
