The family sails to Britain, where they receive a tepid welcome from Lady Effigy and Freddie Munster, who throws tantrums because he wasn't named Lord Munster. An on-board romance had blossomed between Marilyn and Roger, but on land Marilyn discovers Roger's family holds a longstanding grudge against the Munsters.

We had this taped from TV when I was a kid. I still remember some of the ads that played in between act breaks as if they were part of the movie themselves. I remember really liking this as a child, which means it was a success since that's who it was intended for. Eventually I think we taped over it with my sister's birthday party or something. That's a crying shame. They only showed this on TV once but she turned seven at least three or four times. I tell ya!
Herman Munster is an all-timer and every scene he's in brings a tiny ray of sunshine into this dull and miserable life.
"Munster, Go Home!" is a 1966 comedy directed by Earl Bellamy. Based upon the often-favorite sitcom "The Munsters" (1964-1966) which now needs no real introduction within the lexicon of television popularity, "Munster, Go Home!" serves to be a companioned film near the end of the shows first run. Still carrying an episodic theme about it, the film actually was the first of a few films based on the show although there wouldn't be another one until "The Munsters' Revenge" (1981) years later. In "Munster, Go Home!" the narrative follows the Munsters as they travel abroad to jolly old England. Herman learns that he is apparently a long-lost heir to a Munster Manor and the family travels abroad to check out their inheritance. After a troublesome but hilarious narrative with the family's antics aboard a cruise ship, the Munsters arrive at their newly received manor. The only problem is that there is jealousy from the British Munsters (who are quite normal in appearance) on the application of the inheritance and intend on scaring the family favorite Munsters off the property. One who watches the show can easily assume the irony that goes along with attempting to scare off The Munsters and their affinity for being monsters themselves.Ultimately the narrative spells it out pretty clear that this is just an extended episode of the show, but that is not a deterrent whatsoever. Personally, "The Munsters" was a show that caught reruns of on "Nick at Night" usually after the kids' version of "Nickelodeon" ended for the day. It was a good bridging gap show, something along with the very similar "The Adams Family" (1964-1966) which "Nickelodeon" knew would still connect attention with its younger audience and its older. So, while I was never one that hyper focused on the show, it was one that I caught in passing quite a few times and had enjoyable memories with. You would think that a film that is just one big, long episode would have its hinderances but honestly, I found the pacing to keep things fresh at a constant. This is a really easy watch and one that goes well if one needs to throw something lighthearted in the middle of heavier features. I easily give this a recommendation regardless of how well one is versed with the series.
