28th Review for The Collab Weekly Movie WatchI'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed. As a concept, the idea of seeing some silent era films from the magnificent Billy Wilder is enticing, but personally I think one of the things that makes him one of the best is not only the way that he brilliantly directs and (in the case of this movie, only) writes films on a variety of themes and genres with a more than satisfying outcome, but a lot of that success lies on the many situations his characters have to face, the memorable moments and the dialogues. Remove all that, and what you are left with is something very generic, which I thought this story ended up being.Technically speaking, the cinematography and camerawork is excellent. Although the repetition of shots became a bit tedious and boring after a while, it is impossible to deny that it is amazing how Wilder is able to capture each and every moment throughout the movie, sometimes helping to immerse us within the story. The performances were fine, with each one able to convey the emotions well. All in all, Wilder does a good job visually, but I thought the story lacked a lot of depth.TODAY REVIEWPeople on SundayPlanet TerrorSin City IISCREAM (2022)
