The last act is essentially what you'd see if Home Alone was R rated.

I do like the fact that for the first time since basically the first movie, Rambo seems mentally unstable. He takes medication and he’s building elaborate tunnels under his house for no reason and he gets information from people by threatening to stab and shoot them. If this movie was about an unwell veteran who becomes consumed by paranoid delusions, that might be something.Instead, all of Rambo’s most racist anxieties are proven to be 100 percent accurate. He warns his niece not to go to Mexico to look for her biological dad, and when she does she immediately becomes a sex trafficking victim. And then things get worse from there. This is a very depressing end to one of the weirder franchises in history. Five movies, each set in a different place, each about a guy whose personality and motives frequently change from movie to movie. Some of the films are deeply ambivalent about violence and the government; others bask in blood and bullets and military power. There’s very little consistency, even though Stallone has remained at the center of all of it.Also, how do you make a Rambo without a single headband?!? That’s like making a Rocky movie without a single boxing match. Inexcusable.

I've watched people I've loved die. Some fast with a bullet, some not enough left to bury. All these years I've kept my secrets, but the time has come to face my past. And if they come looking for me, they will welcome death. I want revenge. I want them to know that death is coming. And there's nothing they can do to stop it."At 73, most people prefer to sit at home, relax, and reminisce about their youth while being surrounded by their family. Sylvester Stallone was not built that way and this year he made a movie to prove that action stars of the 80s simply don't age. Obviously he has lost a step or two and is not flying around the screen like he used to but at bloody 73, he is still a one-man army and the living proof that age is just a number.Rambo Last Blood is a no-nonsense grim action movie with a cliche plot that does not pretend to be bigger than it is. Nobody is saving the world from mass enslavement, spies, or nuclear threats. It is a simple revenge thriller with loads of action, grit, and violence that can easily rival John Wick in terms of creativity in a certain facet when it comes to the violence and carnage.TRIVIA: On December 6, 2018, Sylvester Stallone stated this would be the last "Rambo" film and that his character would "finally find what he assumes to be peace." However, at Cannes 2019, Stallone countered that he would continue to play the character of John Rambo should this film prove to be successful.Rambo's relationship with his niece is the heart of the film and helps in giving the movie the emotional connection it needs. However, these are about the only characters that have any form of depth. The villains are 1 dimensional and nothing more and are there simply to be part of an endless army for Rambo to mutilate and maim in glorious over the top violence which is fun. The film, however, has a saving grace in the form of Stallone and his performance. Stallone has always been an underrated actor and I believe it hasn't been until recently that he's been receiving some of the recognition he deserves. The movie's problems perhaps are a result of its extremely short length. If anyone knows about the making of this film it was constantly cut down in the editing room to make it 89 minutes, the shortest Rambo film to date. I believe in a longer version of this film lies a film that is much better, that balances out its more meditative moments with its bursts of violence.TRIVIA: Original screenplay by Matthew Cirulnick had more and bigger action sequences - especially in the ending where Rambo fights against many more mercenaries who attack his ranch. This version of the climax was much more of a war battle. However, Sylvester Stallone didn't like how "over the top" the action was and some other parts of the script, so he scaled everything down in his re-write to make it more realistic in order to focus more on the story and characters. As it stands the film feels unbalanced and has an extremely slow and boring first two acts, while the action-packed finale and final moments of the film feeling like they should be more impactful than they end up being. These last few moments are the best parts of the film and make it feel more like a finale.DIRECTOR: Adrian GrunbergWRITER: Matthew Cirulnick, Sylvester StalloneFILMING LOCATIONS: Canary Islands, Spain BEHIND THE SCENES: Rambo V TRAILER: IMDbOverall, Rambo: Last Blood is a film that has the right stuff to make this finale great, and while it is good in some areas, most of the film feels rushed which I attribute to the very short run-time. Stallone's performance makes it worthy of a view though and the film does try it's best to blend the series violent aspects with the more character-driven first film.Should the Rambo franchise effectively end here or would you like to see another sequel? What was your favorite / least favorite aspect of it?What is your overall opinion of this franchise up to this point? What should I watch next?Fact-Checking / TRIVIA Source: IMDbBe well, my friends.
