justice for that poor lesbian housekeeper
what made this great for me was joan fontaine’s character having no name, being referred only as darling or mrs. de winter, which ends up making an incredible contrast with the almost ghostly and overly mentioned rebecca. you know you’re that bitch when you cause all this conversation
mrs danvers invented the psycho lesbian cliché
A naive young woman marries an aristocratic widower and moves to his sprawling seaside estate, where she finds herself suffocated by the lingering memory of his mysterious former wife.
Alfred Hitchcock directed Rebecca in 1940 as his first American film project.
Yes, it won the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 13th Academy Awards.
