Being an avid fan of the team known as ZAZ, who brought us classic spoof films like "Airplane!", when I heard that this film had also been written by the mind that gave us Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and the brilliant My Cousin Vinny many years later, I was very intrigued. There's no doubt this is a Dale Launer movie, and even something that DeVito would do, but Zucker and Abrams' trademarks are scarcely apparent in certain scenes, such as the fitness video and the ending, which made me wonder why they were even brought on board. It's not that they did a poor job, but it's just that when you watch a film with this team, you tend to have expectations in advance that the film never lives up to because, as I mentioned, it never feels like their vision, which is a shame because a film with this concept would have given them countless opportunities.Having said that, the movie isn't necessarily bad either. Judge and DeVito are undoubtedly the two who stand out in the end, especially Danny who had some experience playing these obnoxious characters and a good sense of dark humour. Around the second half of the film, Middler finally gets to shine. Anita Morris and Bill Pullman are completely wasted in a subplot that is more designed to annoy than to entertain, as well as feel completely unnecessary. All in all, even though it's fun from time to time, I can't deny being a little disappointed to see so much potential wasted.TODAY SCHEDULEA Man's Flower RoadLoveRuthless PeopleDrop Dead Gorgeous
